The Vegetarian is a novel detailing one woman, Yeong-hye, and her choice to become a vegetarian after a horrible dream. This choice is regarded as the beginning of her descent to madness and gives birth to trouble in the family. The book demonstrates the desire that many have to control women’s decisions, lives, and bodies and the tendency for them to be cast aside when not conforming.

Rating: 4

My rating for this book is a 4 because the book is focused and I believe the poem format does bring it down in some spots at times.

Rating: 4

My rating for this book is a 4 because the book is way too detailed at points and can have way too many themes running throughout. I think this diverts the reader from the plot of the novel. I believe this will also confuse readers at some points about what the book is meant to be.

Rating: 3.5

My rating for this book is a 3.5 because the book is pretty average and it did not catch my interest. The book is written well but it does not have a very interesting plot. Iti s realistic but a bit like those perfect story books type of "realistic".

Summary:

This book is about a girl who wants to be an astronaut. It takes place right before a huge rocket launch in the 1980s. This book gives her and her brothers' points of view and leads her to learn a lot of things.

Rating: 2

My rating for this book is a 2 because the book is bland in my opinion and does not have intensive detail. This book failed to get my interest and I believe the main reason was not enough detail and the plot was very predictable.

Summary:

This is about a girl Lola. Her father is missing and everyone says that he died. Lola in disbelief starts trying to find him. She then has a story which is created that will be unique throughout her life.

“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.” Hundreds of years after William Shakespeare’s death, and audiences are still entranced by his plays. Hamlet is no exception, as it is regarded as one of the greatest plays of all time. The book is about how the young Prince of Denmark (Hamlet) reacts when he discovers the life-changing news that, not only is the King (Hamlet’s father) dead, but his mother has married the Claudius, the King’s brother, and Claudius is now king.

Heartfelt in many ways, True (...sort of) is a fantastic book for kids. Delly, the protagonist, is a troublesome eleven-year-old girl who is one strike from being sent away. But her pretend friend Ferris is destined to keep her out of trouble with their new surprise project. Delly’s made-up vocabulary also makes this book kiddish despite its impactful underlying message on friendship and trust.
