The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger describes two days in a sixteen-year-old teenager named Holden Caufield. But Holden Caufield does not live a normal teenage life as he does not have a healthy relationship with his parents or with anyone for that matter. As a result, he is an outcast with no desire to succeed in his education, causing him to get expelled from prep school and journey hopelessly across New York.

Vicious is an incredible read that grips the reader all throughout. Each character is flawed, if not evil. The book takes you on a journey where you cannot side with either of the characters since you know deep down that they both are not good people. This story of two best friends turned enemies is heartbreaking as it represents the fragility of relationships and how wanting to get to the top may leave you miserable. Vicious mainly follows Victor Vale and how he sets out to seek revenge.

This novel is great for older teens looking to get into reading. The book I would say is not for anyone younger than high school ages. The book takes a different view on abusive relationships. It allows the reader to understand how it feels to be in a relationship like this and why one might stay in it. It creates a new perspective following Lily’s relationship with her new boyfriend Ryle. An ex of Lily’s comes in the picture challenging their relationship in many ways. The book is written wonderfully with so many surprising moments.

Ignite Me is the third book in Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series, and it’s by far my favorite in the series so far. This book begins when Juliette wakes up after being shot. She is told by Warner that the war is over and Omega Point and all of its people are gone. Juliette then finds Kenji, who leads her to the handful of others that survived, including Adam.

Unravel Me is the second book in the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. This book contains a lot of relationship drama between Juliette and Adam, as well as growing chemistry between Juliette and Warner. After Juliette is summoned by Warner's father to save her captive friends, Warner is brought to Omega Point as a hostage. Warner's character development in this book is profound as his relationship with Juliette quickly develops.
