In the acknowledgements at the end of her book, Red, White & Royal Blue, Casey McQuiston writes, "What I hope to do, and what I hope I have done with this book by the time you've finished it, my dear reader, is to be a spark of joy and hope you needed." This is indeed exactly what reading this book did for me.

Sparks and icing fly when the first son of the United States and a Prince of Wales cause an international incident by pushing each other into a very important wedding cake. In the delightful story that follows, the quirky friendships formed are as important as the romantic relationship and that is what makes this book special among its peers. This boy hates boy then loves boy story stole my heart with much beloved nerdy references and clever, snarky dialogue. It's a real treat for the brain and gave me all the feels, making it the newest member of my Clever Candy list of delectable and witty romances. In short, if you enjoy titles by Rainbow Rowell you will most certainly adore this book.
