Welcome Song
Welcome, welcome everyone,
Now your here, let's have some fun.
First we'll clap our hands just so.
Then we'll reach and touch our toes.
Welcome, welcome, everyone,
Now your here, let's have some fun.

Hole in the Middle of the Sea
There's a hole in the middle of the sea, There's a hole in the middle of the sea,
There's a hole. there's a hole. There's a hole in the middle of the sea. There's a log, in the hole, in the middle of the sea. x2
There's a log. There's a log. There's a log, in the hole, in the middle of the sea. There's a bump, on the log, in the hole, in the middle of the sea...
There's a frog, on the bump, on the log, in the hole, in the middle of the sea...
There's a fly on the frog, on the bump, on the log, in the hole, in the middle of the sea...
There's a wing on the fly, on the frog, on the bump, on the log, in the hole, in the middle of the sea...
There's a flea, on the wing, on the fly, on the frog, on the log, on the bump, on the log, in the hole, in the middle of the sea...

Skip, skip, skip to my Lou, Skip to my Lou, my darlin'.
Fly's in the buttermilk, shoo, fly, shoo. Fly's in the buttermilk, shoo, fly, shoo.
Fly's in the buttermilk, shoo, fly, shoo. Skip to my Lou, my darlin'.Skip, skip, skip to my Lou, Skip, skip, skip to my Lou, Skip, skip, skip to my Lou, Skip to my Lou, my darlin'.
Game: Fly in the Buttermilk
The children tried to fly "Fly gliders" into a pretend bucket of buttermilk. The directions for making a fly glider is found on page 64 of Bats, Butterflies and Bugs: A book of Action Toys We sang the ABC song and then played Fly ABC Bingo.
Game: Fly Trap
Children pretend to be Venus flytraps by holding their hands together at the palms with them open and facing up. The teacher buzzes a plastic fly around on a string among their hands and they try to snap closed on the fly. Here's another fly game that we didn't have time to play today:
Froggie in the Middle [Adapted by Terry Kluytmans at KIDiddles.com]
Froggie in the middle and he can't get out, He can't get out, He can't get out. Froggie in the middle, and he can't get out. Here's a fly to lure him out! Froggie in the Middle One child is selected as the Froggie, and another as the fly. The Froggie sits in the middle of the ring, with the other children, including the fly, in a joined circle around him/her. The Froggie squats and jumps around in the center of the ring as the other children join hands and circle to the left (or right, if you prefer) whild singing. At the last line, the fly steps into the center of the ring, at which point the Froggie has to catch him. They can go outside of the circle for the chase. A new Froggie is then chosen, and the game is repeated.
