Here are the rhymes and songs from today:
Welcome To Storytime! [tune: Twinkle, Twinkle]
Welcome, welcome everyone,
Now we're here, let's have some fun.
First we'll sing the ABC's,
then we'll read and sing with me.
Welcome, welcome, everyone,
Now we're here let's have some fun.
Pitter-Pat
Pitter-pat, pitter-pat, oh so many hours, (Let fingers patter on floers, legs, head, etc)
Although it keeps me in the house,
It's very good for flower! (Cup hands and extend slowly upward)
Rain is Falling on You [tune: "Happy Birthday" ]
Rain is falling on you,
Rain is falling on me,
Rain is falling on everyone,
Rain is falling, Yippee!
Pitter patter Rain Drops [Tune: "I'm a Little Teapot"]
Pitter patter rain drops (wiggle fingers to imitate rain)
Falling from the sky (wiggle fingers downward)
Here's my unbrella (action of opening an umbrella)
Hold it high! (hands over head)
When the rain is over and the sun begins to glow (make sun with arms)
Little flowers start to bud (kneel down)
then grow, grow, grow!! (slowly stand up)
Boom, Bang!
Boom, Bang, Boom, Bang! [clap hands loudly and slowly]
Rumpety, lumpety, bump! [Pat thighs]
Zoom, Zam, Zoom, Zam! [Cut alternate hands back and forth]
Clippety, clappety, clump! [Clap hands in pattering rhythm]
Rustles and bustles [Nod head from side to side with words]
And swishes and zings! [Whole body sways]
What wonderful noises a thunderstorm brings! [Repeat all the above motions]
The More We Read Together [Tune: The More We Get Together]
The more we read together, together, together,
The more we read together, the better it is!
'Cause reading and singing and talking together,
Is how you learn the six skills for reading by six.
Hope to see you at our next Antioch Preschool Storytime!
