Anthony Pack is a full-time artist living in Overland Park, KS. His 3-D mixed media creations are built by hand, entirely of recycled materials. Pack combs antique malls, thrift shops, and estate sales to find the cast-off items that will become his work.
After earning a degree in visual communication from the University of Kansas, Anthony went to work for Hallmark in Kansas City. For a decade he worked for the greeting card giant in a variety of design disciplines. During that time, Pack began experimenting with 3-D assemblage in his studio practice. At first, he created figures out of Sculpey clay and built dioramas in which their narratives played out. He began incorporating found objects in these scenarios which led to greater collecting on his part. His expanding stockpile of “junk” that could be re-purposed into art allowed him to transition to making his figurative sculptures entirely from the materials of the past.
Pack has refined his current body of work over the last 18 years while traveling to juried art fairs around the U.S. and raising a family. His recent Best of Show honors include those awarded at Fiesta Art Fair in San Antonio, Three Rivers in Covington, LA, Artclectic in Nashville, and Bucktown Art Fest in Chicago. Pack’s work is in countless private collections in the U.S. and abroad. His work is represented by galleries and museum shops in Kansas City, Chicago, Nashville and Sanford, FL.
