Jaylon Goode is a visual artist focused on drawing and painting the human form in a variety of mediums, from digital art to drawings to painting.

Tell us about the works on exhibit. What’s the medium? What has inspired their creation?

All of these were made during a period of experimentation during 2020. 2020 sucked for a lot of reasons but it gave me a lot of time to dive into painting and mess around. This is when I started approaching acrylic painting with a more watercolor styled approach.

What do you wish to convey when working on a portrait of someone?

I hope to bring out the essence of the person, also the essence of the environment if possible.

What themes do you pursue?

I've never made art with a certain theme in mind, I'm usually just trying to capture the essence of my subject in a unique way.

What is your dream project?

I would love to make a comic/graphic novel that ended up being adapted into an animated film/series.

What is your most important artist tool? Is there something you can’t live without in your studio?

I have a deep love for a very specific ballpoint pen, the Zebra F-301. It's been my favorite sketching tool for a few years now.

What books, movies and/or music have inspired you recently?

I've been reading a lot of Hellboy — Mike Mignola's art style is very distinct and inspiring. I've also started reading some Astro Boy by Osamu Tezuka. His style of drawing has a beautiful simplicity that I'd like to incorporate into my own work.
