Calling all creative kids! Join the MakerSpace for a Summer Reading event full of making, community, and fun. “Make It All Together Now” will be happening on the following dates and locations:
- June 14: 1-3PM @ Antioch Library
- June 21: 1-3PM @ Gardner Library
- June 28: 1-3PM @ Monticello Library
- July 5: 1-3PM @ Central Resource Library
This event is open to kids 8 and up and registration is not required. The same project will be repeated each week, so come to the session that works best for you!
During this event, we will be working together to make a colorful and collaborative group art piece. Participants will have the opportunity to create two artworks, one to take home and one to contribute. There will be four activities to choose from.
- Cross stitch: Make your own unique cross-stitch design. This grid is great for beginners to try out different stitches, patterns and techniques.
- Stamping: Learn to carve your own design into a stamp and decorate your piece. We will also have premade stamps available.
- Crayon melting: Create colorful and abstract art by melting crayons with a heat gun.
- Free draw: Use drawing and paint supplies to make a one-of-a-kind piece. Great for those looking to let their creativity flow.
All of these projects will be completed on color coordinated squares. The group art piece will combine these squares into an abstract grid and be displayed at the library for everyone to enjoy.
This event is a great chance to get creative, learn new skills, and meet new people. We'll have all the supplies you need, so bring your imagination and come ready to have fun! We can't wait to see what you create!
