Meet the Author

For centuries, humans have been the pawns in the game between Love and Death. We are all familiar with the players in these doomed games, Antony and Cleopatra, Helen of Troy and Paris, Romeo and Juliet.

Join author Martha Brockenbrough for a chat about her book The Game of Love and Death, a 2015 Kirkus Prize Finalist and YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults selection. Steeped in smoke, gin and jazz, this book transports readers to 1930s Seattle at the height of the Great Depression. Mixing elements of historical fiction and fantasy, Brockenbrough paints a story of two teens selected to play in a game beyond their control.
