My Double Life

By: Talon Cleveland

Two lives entwined, yet worlds apart
One is forefront and first seen,
A constant pull, a tearing heart
The other is hidden and forbidden,
A true freedom, lying till eighteen

If I put my life on a screen,
You will see there is no in-between,
My life can not have both,
They blame on the holy ghost

My truth, hidden behind a lie,
But lies, they’re fake, they crack, and break,
A fragile mask, a thin facade to take,
With twisted tongues and whispered promises,
They take your mind and put all at stake

Two lives I lead, one heart I hold,
One moment free, the next controlled,
I uphold both, but fully live neither,
Each bound by lies and truths half told,

Secrets, though buried deep within,
Are heavy on the soul and conscience,
They lay in dark, and be corrupt by sin,
They crawl through your body and change you
from within,

In one life, I am known,
But in the other, I am truly shown,
Two lives, two faces, one soul to keep,
Awake in one, the other, sleep.
