rebellion.jpgJane lives in Santucket, a small village on Cape Cod. It is a beautiful place and Jane enjoys the company of her father, step-mother and many siblings. However, Jane has refused to marry the man her father has chosen for her, so she is sent to live with an older, ailing aunt in Boston. Set just prior to the American Revolution, Boston is alive with revolutionary fever and Jane finds herself caught up in it almost immediately. She develops friendships and affections that may turn out to be problematic as Jane struggles to determine her views on the political views of the day. The Boston Massacre, John Adams and other historical persons and events are interwoven in this novel. It is also interesting to learn how the author interprets the general view of women and their rights during that time in our history. It is evident that the author has researched her subject, and although not a riveting read, this book would be of interest to those interested in the life and times of this period.
