The Space Between by Brenna Yovanoff

Mar 18, 2013

The Space Between is another stand-alone novel by Brenna Yovanoff. This novel follows two protagonists—Daphne, the daughter of Lilith and Lucifer, and Truman, a human boy. The novel switches between their perspectives and creates a world of illusion, deceit, evil, and “in-betweens.”  While the story is dark, it also forces readers to decide what the true differences are between Angels and Demons and what characteristics make someone human.

Daphne is forced to leave Pandemonium and travel to Earth in order to find her missing brother, Obie. But first, she needs to find Truman, the last human she believes to have seen Obie alive. While Daphne is on a mission to save her brother, Truman is doing everything possible to destroy himself. Since the death of his mother, he’s been spiraling further down the roads of sin. Strangely enough, it may take Daphne, a high-demon, to help him mend his ways and find redemption.  But there’s more than just redemption waiting for Truman at the end of his journey, and what he finds will both save and destroy him.

Beautifully grotesque, readers will feel themselves sinking into a world of demons, violence, love, and redemption as they read this novel.
