Blackout by Connie Willis

May 30, 2012

Past and future collide in 2010 Hugo award winning novel Blackout, written by 11 time Hugo award winning author Connie Willis.  The first of a two volume novel, Blackout is a story of time travel and history, as much an examination of future research as a historical look back on things that were.  In 2060, historians conduct research by traveling back in time, to examine things as they occur.  Three of these young historians travel back to 1940 England.  The three individuals soon come to find out that something has changed in the space time continuum and their way back to 2060 is blocked.  Knowing there are others in England conducting research, the three historians converge on London, where while stranded, they spend their nights moving from underground tunnel to tunnel, dodging explosions and crashing buildings as German firebombs blast apart the war torn city.
