Born at Midnight by C. C. Hunter

May 5, 2012

For those readers who enjoyed P.C. Cast’s House of Night series here’s another young adult paranormal series by C. C. Hunter which is set at the Shadow Falls Camp/school.  At Shadow Falls all kinds of paranormals, not just vampires, learn not only about themselves and their unique talents and abilities but also about how they can learn to live among the human population.  Shadow Falls also fosters understanding between the different paranormal species in an effort to foster good will and peace within the paranormal community.

Kylie Galen finds herself at Shadow Falls without any clue as to why she might be there.  She was in the wrong place at the wrong time and got picked up by the police at a party.  Next thing she knows she’s off to Shadow Falls Camp for “troubled teens,” a bunch of kids who aren’t necessarily troubled but are not like any teens that Kylie has met before.  When Kylie finds out what Shadow Falls Camp is really about she doesn’t believe that she is part of the paranormal community, and the camp counselors can’t tell her much about herself or her talents other than that she can talk to ghosts.  Kylie realizes that the guy she has been thinking of as her “stalker” is really a ghost that has been appearing to her and that the “night terrors” she’s been having for years are really ghosts trying to connect with her.

Kylie makes new friends—a witch and a vampire—and embarks on a possible romance with half fae Derek, who reminds her of her ex-boyfriend back home, and werewolf Lucas whom she knew briefly as a child.

Join Kylie and her friends as they learn about the paranormal community and their own unique talents.  Don’t miss Born at Midnight, followed by Awake at Dawn and Taken at Dusk (04/2012).
