I am not a huge TV watcher but here are some shows I picked up in 2009.
10 Things I Hate About You
I loved the 1999 movie 10 Things I Hate About You (it is where I first found Heath Ledger). So I was scared when they announced they were turning into a TV show on ABC Family. But I tuned in anyway to watch them slaughter one of my iconic teen movies. But I couldn't stop watching! It was a really good show, not the same as the movie but still fabulous and in the same spirit. I can't wait for it to come back next season. The Library doesn't yet own season 1 on DVD but I am working on them...
Nathan Fillion has been one of my favorite actors for a long time so when I heard he was going to be in a murder mystery TV show I was there! And it is a fabulous show! The crimes are original and the lines are hilarious as author Rick Castle shadows detective Kate (good name) Beckett to base a character on her. Not to mention a killer soundtrack! It is currently in its second season but still relatively new and worth checking out!
What can I say? If you are a geek you are inexplicably drawn to Joss Whedon projects and this is no exception. The series follows Echo, an operative for the Dollhouse, a questionable organization that wipes their operatives memories and downloads them with personalities and skills for each job they are sent on. Fans were originally scared that the show would be canceled but it has come back for another season but you should check out the first one before getting confused by all the mysteries of the dollhouse.
J.J. Abrams must be the weirdest person alive. I was a fan of Lost until all the conspiracies got to be too much to keep track of. But I got into Fringe when it started Fall 2008 and I haven't looked back. I must admit that I also had a little girl crush on Joshua Jackson from his years on Dawson's Creek but this is a good mystery Sci-Fi show. I just hope that they don't let the show get hijacked by all the unexplained mysteries like what happened to Lost.
This show has me up and down by turns. I saw the pilot last spring and LOVED it but the nothing for 6 months! The show came back this fall and had me both loving it and hating it. Thankfully the Fall finale has redeemed the show and I won't be able to stop watching now. Follow the McKinley High School Glee club on the road to sectionals. Also check out the soundtracks!
