The Likeness by Tana French

What could a detective do if her exact double was murdered and she could stop into her life and pretend to be her – still alive? This mystery set near Dublin explores this phenomenon. Cassie Maddox, beaten down by a devastating case, has taken refuge in a less “violent” branch of the police. When her former boss in undercover operations finds her Cassie is bored but very hesitant to take on the danger and responsibility of this new assignment. Lexie Madison’s body has been found in an abandoned cottage. Her four roommates are prime suspects but seem to have airtight alibis. Sometimes slow-moving, this unusual who-done-it will appeal to readers who enjoy exploring character relationships.
