There’s something about reading stories set in your region of the world. Another Kansas Story from Pickard – this time in the small town of Rose. When she was three years old, Jody’s father was murdered and her mother disappeared. Now 26, Jody’s preoccupation with this event is heightened by the prison release of the convicted murderer and his planned return to Rose. While this is not her best work it is a comfortable and interesting read – good for a summer weekend when thinking isn’t on the agenda.
