The Kettle triplets Lyn, Cat and Gemma are celebrating their 33rd birthday as they traditionally do, with three cakes and champagne and just the three of them. The triplets create a stir everywhere they go and this night is no different. However, what they don't realize is that this birthday is bringing to a head many years of secrets, misunderstandings, and misguided intentions. While they may be triplets, the girls are all individuals with very different personalities and roles they play in the family. With many flashbacks to the past and told from each of the triplet's viewpoints we see how the past is influencing the present as we look back from the night of their 33rd birthday to see how they got to this milestone. Lyn is the uber organized executive trying to keep everything and everyone in their designated place. Cat has just learned that her perfect marriage may not be as perfect as she thought. And Gemma realizes that she must stop playing the air head gypsy and deal with her relationship issues.
In parts, funny, sad, emotional, and insightful the sisters meet each challenge by turning first to each other but often realizing that they may be as much the problem as part of the solution. As they approach their birthday they come to realize many things about themselves, their parents, and each other.
A fun and insightful read or listen.
