How do I register or vote early?
- Register online through the Kansas Secretary of State’s Office. For U. S. Citizens who reside in Kansas. If you are 17, and will turn 18 on or before November 4, 2025 you can register before the deadline on October 14, 2025!
- Check to see if you are currently registered in Kansas through Kansas Secretary of State’s VoterView.
- Applications for advance ballots may be printed and submitted to your County Election Office or through KSVotes (Español). You must apply each time there is an election. Voters with permanent disabilities are eligible to apply for Permanent Advance Voting (Español), and return to their County Election Office.
Where can I vote in Johnson County?
- Early in person voting can be done at several locations between October 25 and November 3, 2025. Note hours on Saturdays and weekdays differ. All in person early voting closes at 12:00 PM on November 3, 2025. Visit Johnson County Election Office advance voting locations for more information.
- Advance vote by mail ballots may be returned 4 ways.
- Return via a Ballot Drop Box, no stamps necessary. Boxes are open October 15-November 4. Boxes are locked at 7:00 PM November 4. See here for locations: Johnson County Election Office Mail Ballot Drop Box Locations.
- They may be returned at any of the advance polling locations during polling hours. Johnson County Election Office advance voting locations.
- You may return your completed ballot at your assigned polling place on Election Day, Novemer 4, 2025, during polling hours.
- Returning by mail with a stamp. You ballot must be postmarked no later than 7:00 PM on November 4 and received by the Election Office by November 7.

Every registered voter has an assigned polling place! Polling places can change, so even if you have voted in the past, it’s a good idea to check your polling place for each election.
Check your Election Day assigned polling location with Kansas Secretary of State’s VoterView. Polls are open between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
What do I bring with me when voting in person?
Kansas state law requires you to bring a photo ID when voting in person. Acceptable forms include:
- A driver’s license or ID card issued by Kansas, another state.
- A United States passport.
- A U.S. Military ID.
- ID card issued by a Native American tribe.
- An employee badge or ID issued by a city, county, state, or federal government office.
- A student identification card issued by an accredited postsecondary institution of education in Kansas.
- A concealed carry of handgun or weapon license issued by Kansas or by another state.
- A public assistance ID card issued by a city, county, state or federal government office.
What if I don’t live in Johnson County?
- Wyandotte County residents with questions or needing assistance with registration or voting may contact the Wyandotte County Election Office online or by calling (913) 573-8500. Wyandotte County residents may check here for advance voting information.
- Missouri residents with questions or needing assistance may call the Missouri Secretary of State at (573) 751-2301or visit Vote Missouri. Absentee voting information for Missouri residents is available.

- For information about candidates or issues, the eNewspapers section of our eLibrary is a great resource. Both The Kansas City Star and Johnson County Post include coverage of local candidates and issues on upcoming ballots. You will need your Johnson County Library card or ecard + PIN to access both titles.
- Ballotpedia provides biographical, current and past work of elected officials, campaign themes and more.
- org is a nonpartisan, nonprofit site covering many topics of current interest related to campaign topics.
- Politifact, a non-profit news organization, offers fact checking on current topics, candidate statements and claims, media personalities and campaigns. Users may also submit claims to have them fact checked.
