I happened upon this author when she came out with Forgotten late last year, and I enjoyed it enough to want to read some of her others. Arranged is a story about Anne Blythe, a writer who starts to question whether she’ll ever get married after the combination of ending a disastrous long-term relationship and her best friend getting engaged to a great guy. Love doesn’t seem possible until she finds a business card for what she thinks is a matchmaking service, appropriately called Blythe & Co. The best category I can come up with for this book is: chick lit with dogs. The heroine, Dawn, on the rebound from a bad relationship, struggling with a second bad relationship and in the process of stumbling into a good relationship (finally!), discovers one day that she can understand the speech of dogs. This leads to interesting complications. Her dogs are hilarious, if somewhat foul-mouthed. And they may be good judges of character but their relationship advice is, as she discovers, often suspect. Dogs simply have different priorities than humans.

The author, an Emmy Award-winning

Fancy White Trash by Marjetta GeerlingThere were three reasons why I picked up Fancy White Trash. At first, the cover with a pink flamingo caught my attention and then I was intrigued by the title. When I found out that the book had been selected by the American Library Association's for their 2009 Best Books for Young Adults List and I made a decision to give it a try. As soon as I read the first couple pages, I was hooked.

This debut novel is a lighthearted and hilarious read. Fifteen-year-old Abby Savage is determined to find true love and especially not to repeat family's history of dating and getting pregnant. Therefore, she
