Throne of Glass is a young adult fantasy novel by Sarah J. Maas. It follows Celaena Sardothien,
formerly the most infamous assassin in her kingdom, now sentenced to imprisonment. However,
she is granted the opportunity to win her freedom. To do so, she must win a competition
between 23 other thieves and killers in order to become the assassin to the king.
Throne of Glass is a fun read, but a little cliché. The main plot is unique and the book is a
page-turner. The world is interesting and the competition itself is a fun idea. However, a lot of
elements in the book feel like they’ve been done many times before. Readers seem to be split
on the characters: I don’t mind them, but I can understand why other readers may not like them.
I recommend this book for fans of the fantasy genre. I rate this book 4 stars.
