Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier is a classical literature novel written in gothic style. The story involves a woman who marries Maxim de Winter, a wealthy man who she knows nothing about. The woman, at first is excited about her marriage, but soon experiences feelings of regret and guilt. She discovers the strong hold that Maxim’s late wife Rebecca had on the people around her. She works to uncover Maxim and Rebecca’s past to find peace in her own life.

Frankenstein is a groundbreaking gothic novel that explores themes of ambition, responsibility, and the nature of humanity. Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist, creates a creature in a scientific experiment. Horrified by his creation, Victor abandons it. The creature, shunned by society due to its appearance, becomes bitter and seeks revenge on its creator. The story is told through many letters written by Captain Walton, who meets Victor in the Arctic and records his tale.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is a classic that brilliantly mixes big ideas like the ethics of science, the consequences of playing God, and deep human emotions. Shelley tells a story that's not just about what happens when science goes too far, but also about the intense sadness and loneliness felt by the monster, a result of science without limits.
