Shannon is “the group's” leader now. She had all the power she wanted when joining middle school. But now her problem has changed. Shannon is worried about what her friends think about her. Whether it is taking a joke too far or talking bad about friends, Shannon believes that she needs to be more careful about what she says to her group. Will she stay in her group? I love this book because of its ability to be so relatable. I love that this book is a series because we can see how Shannon grows as a character.

When Shannon was younger she had her mom, but then she had to go to school. Fortunately, she met Adrienne, who became her best friend. But she leaves and Shannon is alone again. But then Adrienne comes back! But, she now has new friends, like Jen. Shannon becomes a part of “the group” where she has to push through her abilities to make a keep new friends. Will Shannon stay with the group or fall behind? I love this book because of its ability to be so relatable. I think this book is perfect for its plot but also its lessons.

Hoot is about a boy named Roy. His family has lived all over the country and they have recently moved from Montana to Florida. He is not too happy about this at first, but one day, things start to get a little interesting. On the bus ride to Trace Middle School, he sees a running boy-except, he is running the wrong way, without his stuff, and without any shoes.

Raina is just entering middle school and changes are starting to happen. Friendships, relationships, mood swings etc. every day is different for Raina, and nothing is certain. How with Raina deal with everyday challenges that are thrown her way? This book was definitely an eye opener. Seeing Raina go through 6th through 10th grade, was an experience. The feeling this book gave me was very exciting. I was anticipating what was coming next and loved seeing her growth throughout.

The Outsiders, by S.E. Hilton, is a Young Adult Fiction book.  Ponyboy Curtis, the narrator, recites his struggles in society, thinking that he is an outsider. In the book, there are two groups- the Socs and the Greasers. Ponyboy belongs to the Greasers. People view the Greasers as filthy and wrong, while they view the Socs as an asset to society. This book explains self-identity.
