Rooney is a senior in high school, but she sure doesn’t feel it. In fact her entire life has been put on hold to keep her family afloat, all thanks to The Next World Society. Rooney thinks the group is nonsense, but the idea that all the members will leave earth by November 17th is the only thing her mother believes in and her little brother is starting to fall for it too.

As a kid, Neil loved looking at stars and visiting the planetarium. The book explains how Neil worked hard in school and studied science to follow his dream. It shows how he became a well-known astrophysicist and the director of the Hayden Planetarium.

None of this should have happened. If Ty, golden boy, and top student at the Aurora academy hadn’t decided to go for a midnight flight the day before he was supposed to pick his squad. He wouldn’t have seen the distress beacon or found Aurora, a girl who was a passenger on a ship that went missing 200 years ago. If he hadn’t decided to play the hero, he would have had the pick of the top graduates for his team instead he got stuck with the bottom of the barrel.

Project Hail Mary begins with a guy who wakes up not knowing where he is, how he got there or why he is in the situation he is. Eventually, he comes to find out what his purpose is by relying on his impressive memory. His goal is to save the Earth from a small microbe called Astrophage. Astrophage is a huge problem because as it spreads rapidly the sun starts losing its light. Pressure is on for this sole survivor as he tries to save Earth before its too late.
