Dawn of the Dead: Dawn of the Iconic Status

Dawn of the Dead is one of the best horror films ever made. While this movie is gruesome, violent, and at some times just plain disgusting it is also iconic, funny, and crafted well. Art is subjective and in a way this movie is art, just set in a more darker tone. It’s about a plague that takes over the nation causing the recently dead to rise from their graves with a hunger for living flesh. 

In 1996 the timeless Scream franchise began. The main character of this franchise is Sidney Prescott a girl from Woodsboro, California. The town is being terrorized by a killer that is desperate for revenge. Sidney’s past has her worried that the murders are personal and that she could be next. In defense against the killer, she attempts to gain protection in numbers by staying with her friends and boyfriend. 

After getting married Grace learns of her husband’s family tradition of playing a game at midnight to welcome new family members. She ends up pulling the card of hide-and-seek. However, the childish game Grace thinks she is playing turns murderous as her new family members hunt her down, will she survive until dawn? 

The novel Haunting Adeline by H.D Carlton contains many aspects that readers may find disturbing. Such as stalkers, murder and cults. "Haunting Adeline" follows Adeline Reilly who catches the eye of a dangerous man named Z. Adeline is a successful writer who just moved into her late grandmother’s home. She soon finds out his motive behind stalking her.

The novel Revenge: Eleven Dark Tales by Yoko Ogawa is a collection of short horror stories that all connect to each other. Yoko Ogawa serves as a spider who has created intricate webs that tie these stories together, which she does flawlessly. While reading the book, I found it impossible to put it down. There were no unnecessary descriptions or dialogue; all stories got straight to the point. That is what kept me on my toes.

In the weird fiction novel The Dunwich Horror, H.P. Lovecraft details the blasphemous

occurrences that resulted in an incident known as The Dunwich Horror. The travesty began with

“hideous screams” that signaled the birth of Wilbur Whateley, a brilliant but grotesque child

(Lovecraft 143). Wilbur, alongside his grandfather, took part in strange rituals that caused the

hills to shake and inspired hatred and fear in living. However, his search for blasphemous

Adri is perfectly on track to become the lawyer that her parents have always wanted her to

become. Through academic excellence, hard work, and sacrifice, a summer internship represents

the final bridge between her and her parents’ dreams. The problem is, she wants nothing more

than to get away from the internship, especially when she gets the opportunity of a lifetime.

Like all the other Screams, the 2022 version definitely lives up to the hype with tons of humor

and scary moments to keep the viewer on the edge of their seat. Not to mention, Actors: Neve

Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette returning to their iconic roles in Scream to deliver

another great sequel. That being said, nothing beats the 1996 Scream nor its originality, as I

wouldn’t say Scream 5 was necessarily needed but cool nonetheless.

My rating for this book is a 4 because the book is pretty good but I don't really like the "horror" part of it.

Summary:

This is about a girl named Barbra Gordan. She was shot and is paralyzed from her hips down. She is admitted into a rehab facility which is pretty suspicious. She can hear voices in the walls and once patients start going missing she starts investigating.

Recommendation:

Rating: 3 My rating for this book is a 3 because the book was very detailed and the plot line was really focused and detailed. Also, it did not have much happening for the first few chapters.

Summary: Justin's friends go missing and he returns home after that. They all go to Zee's house, the person who got lost, for a welcome home party. They then play hide and seek, after which everything changes. They find out about a lot of things because of the game.
