“I am a being comprised of letters, a character created by sentences, a figment of imagination formed through fiction.”

Set in a dystopian universe, a young girl has spent years trapped within a mental institution, for seemingly no reason. She is far more dangerous than anyone knows, even herself. Capable of killing with just touch, she begins to feel barely human. What happens when another is added to her cell, changing up what has been her life for the past several years?

It is very clear to any reader that this book is YA, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, just not my own favorite. As far as YA books go, it’s fairly good. This is a reread, as I read this at a much younger age and it was a favorite of mine, but I wanted to see if it withstood the test of time. As for whether it did—kind of. I may not have enjoyed it that much this time around, but I remember genuinely loving it when I was younger, so it truly depends on your stage of life I suppose. I will be reading the rest of the series as well, to see my opinion of my childhood favorites. For nostalgia’s stake, 4/5 stars
