1984 by George Orwell is great and shows the dangers of surveillance. The book is set in a creepy dystopian future where the government has total control over everything and always watches society's every move. The main character, Winston, is a rebel who starts to question the government's authority.
Through the book, Orwell predicted a lot of the surveillance technology that exists today, like cameras and microphones, despite writing this book more than 70 years ago. The only reason I gave 1984 a four instead of a five is because despite being relatively short, it has some parts that feel like they don’t need to be as long as they are. Anyway, 1984 is a classic book and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes dystopian fiction, or anyone who likes books with underlying themes.
