Her quest to seek justice causes the Crown Prince Dorian, the Captain of the Guard, Chaol, and Princess Nehemia to become caught up in Celaena’s secrets and lies. When a tragedy strikes the palace, Celaena’s entire life turns upside down in the midst of a sizzling love triangle, blossoming friendships, and continued search for answers about the mysteries surrounding the King and the palace. I loved the tension, romance, and world-building that takes place during this novel, and I especially enjoyed learning more about Dorian and Chaol’s characters. I also thoroughly enjoyed reading about the friendship between Celaena and Nehemia as someone who finds friendship to be so incredibly important and one of the best parts about being human. At times, the plot did seem a bit slow to me, but I often found myself desperately wanting to find out what happened next!
