“We rode on the winds of the rising storm; we ran to the sounds of the thunder. We danced among the lightning bolts and tore the world asunder.”
After Rand leaves into the mountains, separating from his group, the band splits up and embarks on a myriad of different adventures. Perrin seeks to understand his inner wolf, after meeting a man gone savage to it. Mat is healed of his bond to the dagger while Egwene and Nynaeve run to a new city where they are seen as abominations before finding a secret within. Can the group find each other again?
The third book in the famous Wheel of Time Series, I liked The Dragon Reborn, but not as much as the previous books. I picked it up for my stepfather, who loves this series. While I did enjoy it, I also feel like it can be just so much. This book for me felt like not all that much important happened, just stretching on from the plot lines started in the previous books. I still read it, and there were certainly highlights, but just not my favorite book of the series. To be perfectly honest, this book focused a lot more on the character, but I don’t care to much for the ones of this series. I picked it up for the worldbuilding, (which my stepfather promised me was superb) and the fun new monsters and creatures introduced I thought I could put in my Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Overall, I liked this read, and don’t regret making the big decision to finish this series, but it’s a onetime thing for me. You won’t find me rereading this series again in my lifetime. It was more of a, I’ve done this now, check, moving on. 3 out of 5 stars.
