Every Summer After is a romance book written by Carley Fortune. Backstory: Persephone Fraser is from the big city but one summer her parents bought a lake house in Barry’s Bay. That’s when she met the Florek brothers, Sam, and Charlie. She and Sam became fast friends and were inseparable. Eventually they become more than friends. However, in the present Percy and Sam had a huge falling out that ruined their friendship. It’s been over a decade since they last spoke, but Persephone is desperate to fix what happened in one weekend.
I enjoyed reading this book because of the imagery and intrigue. The secrecy of Percy’s mistake kept me hooked and craving to know more. Carley uses lots of details so the reader can fully understand and imagine each scene. The cute moments between Sam and Percy, the whirl of emotions when they are reunited, felt real and accurate. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and this book does an excellent job portraying the buildup.
