King of Greed by Ana Huang is a mediocre at best book written with the Marriage In Crisis Trope. This book is about Dominic and Alessandra Davenport, their marriage is failing due to Dominic’s overworking, on the night of their 10th wedding anniversary when Dominic forgets about their trip, Alessandra gets so fed up with the feeling of being forgotten she asks Dominic for a divorce, but Dominic doesn’t want to let her go.
I read this book because I didn’t want to skip over a book in a series, even though it is a stand-alone series. I was underwhelmed by this book mainly because it doesn’t play into the trope well, I feel like as a reader I complain when books like these are too long but I wanted more from this book. A marriage isn’t just two dimensional but the author wrote the marriage as such so by the time the book ended, I felt like I didn’t care if the couple was together or not. I give this book 3 out of 5 stars because I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone but I still have to credit the others for what they did good, like helping the characters develop more than just being in a relationship. If you’re reading The King Of Sin Series I do think you should read this book just because past characters are mentioned and you get to see how they are in life and what they are doing. I just honestly expected more from this book just because this troupe is one you don’t see often but also one that if done right can be amazing. This book just didn’t meet those standards.
