Old Man's Cave, is a graphic novel, the sixth book of a nine-book series called Bone. At the end of the fourth book, the Bones and the creatures escape the mountain and Roque Ja defeats Kingdok. In addition, Bartleby rejoins the rat creatures. In this book, the Bones meet the little Bug Ted in the forest, who tells them about what happened with the Dragon and the Rat Creatures earlier. They find out that the rat creatures invaded the valley. Also, Roque Ja forms an alliance with the Hooded One and tries to find and kill the Bones and Thorn. Phoney Bone learns the history of the valley from Grandma. Throughout the book, everyone prepares for war. Meanwhile, many humans get strange dreams in which Briar, Grandma's supposedly dead sister, visits them. Then Roque Jaw attacks, and everyone also learns a terrible secret. Will Roque Jaw capture them and bring them to the Hooded One, or will good prevail?
This book was interesting because of the way Jeff Smith created the rising action for the book series with how everyone prepared for the war. It was interesting that the dreams were no longer only dreamt by Thorn, but now by others too, and the secret revealed at the end of the book really built the suspense and kept me on the edge of my seat for the next book. Because of all this, I give this book a five out of five.
