Siblings Ivy and Isaac are complete opposites. Isaac is a star athlete looking to go to college on a scholarship, and Ivy couldn’t care less about her future. The two go through dramatic changes when they meet their new prescription best friends Roxy (oxytocin) and Addison (adderall). The story takes them through the twisted and toxic relationship that is formed when prescription drugs are abused. Which Ramey sibling will make it out and move on? Which Ramey will succumb to their addiction?

This story was very captivating and emotional. At times, the way the drugs were portrayed as loving and nurturing was a little bit hard to read, just because of how twisted it was. The idea that people probably do turn to drugs for love and care was just something I wasn’t ready to swallow. I love that this book personifies the drugs, and that it very clearly highlights the goals of the drugs: to kill. Knowing and seeing both sides of both the user and the abuser added to the emotions that the reader feels during the book. The content is very much drug abuse heavy, so that’s the biggest trigger warning. There is also some explicit language. Overall, 4 stars. I would recommend it to those interested in the psychology of drug addiction.
