Stick Dog Tries to Take the Donuts is the fifth book of the Stick Dog series. The starts with the dogs feeling hungry(again) and looking for food in Karen’s favorite garbage can. Suddenly, they hear a weird noise, so they go to investigate it. They found that it was near an apple orchard that they hated because they were always hungry for apples, but couldn’t reach up to take any from the trees. The noise turned out to be from a repairman fixing an electric line on a crane. The dogs saw him opening a box and eating something from it. They devised plans to get the food. When they got a piece, which turned out to be donuts, Karen drank up all the coffee, becoming really hyper. She runs off somewhere, and when Stick Dog rescues her by grabbing on the scruff of her neck, the other three dogs have the oddest idea about what Stick Dog is doing(eating or drinking Karen). They devise plans to get more donuts, and in the end, the dogs encounter an animal in a tree who is Poo-poo’s archnemesis - squirrels. Read the book to find out what happened in the battle.
This book had so many new events and is one of my favorite books of the series. One of the most significant parts of it is that Poo-poo finally meets and confronts his alleged ‘archnemesis’. There were many humorous parts too, like the humans in a car driving by flabbergasted at seeing a dog standing like a human operating a crane. In addition, I was laughing so hard when Stripes, Mutt, and Poo-poo thought that Stick Dog was trying to eat or drink Karen. Because of all this, I give this book a five out of five
