Emma aka Saylor to some people is headed to a new environment for 3 weeks in the summer. She is going to where her mother grew up. Emma gets to the lake and it is a little awkward at first. These people are her family but she hardly knows them and she is expected to spend 3 weeks here! At first, she has mixed feelings at the lake, but then she meets some people who might just happen to change her mind even if their relationship is complicated. Very complicated. Emma will learn more about her mother’s past before she became an addict and passed away. Emma will also make friendships that will last a lifetime and she will get closer to her family which is the most valuable thing at the lake.
This book is pretty good. I am just starting to read Sarah Dessen books and have mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed the characters and the idea of the story, however I wish it was more interesting. My favorite part was the last few chapters because of all the twists and turns that made you want to keep reading. Overall, this is a good summer beach or lake read that was good.
