R.I.P Eliza Hart tells the story of Ellie Sokoloff, ex-best friend of Eliza Hart who both attend Ventana Ranch boarding school. Ellie now is a loner, while Eliza is the most popular girl at Ventana Ranch. That is, until she’s murdered. Now Ellie, who’s been bullied by Eliza since she arrived, is determined to solve her murder, despite the fact she now looks like the top suspect. With help from her roommate Sam, she has to find out what really happened, and clear her own name. This book’s mystery is captivating, and kept me hooked for most of the story. However, after reading, I realized that the mystery of Eliza Hart and her death were one of the only things that kept me reading. This book represented mental health well, and seemed pretty realistic. The characters, however, felt bland and one note besides Eliza. Ellie didn’t stand out, and neither did her roommate Sam. The mystery had a slightly underwhelming end, but overall, this book was a decent, but forgettable, young adult mystery.
