George Beard and Harold Hutchins are the class clowns Jerome Horwitz Elementary
School. The two are best friends and make comics about a superhero called Captain Underpants.
They also pull many pranks that get them into all sorts of trouble. However, their Principal, Mr.
Krupp, isn’t amused by their “jokes” and is always trying to find a way to punish them. He soon
finally catches the boys and punishes them, but the George and Harold get out of their punishment
by hypnotizing their principal and making him think he is Captain Underpants. Their prank soon
backfires when Captain Underpants runs out into the city to fight crime. Now George and Harold
have to go after the now hypnotized Mr. Krupp before he gets hurt and they get into trouble!
I really enjoyed reading Dav Pilkey’s Captain Underpants books when I was a little kid.
They were really funny to me during my days in elementary school, so I figured I would read the
series all over again. While the story was entertaining, the length of the book didn’t really suit for
me. I would recommend this book for more younger kids in elementary school, who are developing
their reading skills and/or want to read a good book filled with both a funny and entertaining story.
