All Your Perfects, by Colleen Hoover, is a romance novel and a stand-alone book.
All Your Perfects follows the broken marriage of Quinn and Graham. Their love story was one
for the ages but now, they don’t know how to save it. The couple has gone through hardships
and struggles, some of which may be unresolvable. Reminiscing on their memories and love,
the couple decides that maybe they had yet to reach a point pass fixing what was broken.
Secrets and promises had torn them apart but maybe they could put it all back together. In this
harrowing novel, Colleen Hoover takes you through a presumably broken marriage as they try
to work it out.
All Your Perfects uses detailed imagery to highlight the small fractures of their marriage and
how each one was blown up to large proportions. The author portrays the marriage in a somber
way at first but later switches to a more optimistic tone. This technique allowed the readers to
gain a better picture of how and when the marriage turns around. Hoover does a good job at
creating that pivotal point in which the reader and the main characters gain more clarity. A
point where Hoover fails in in her ability to create a captivating plot. The book drags on at
times; it adds unnecessary details to the storyline. Too descriptive in certain spots, there is too
much going on at once and the reader is not able to get a good view of the bigger picture.
Overall, it harms the favorability of the book because of its inability to deliver on the plot that
readers expect.
