Abriella “Brie” Kincaid is a thief - though by necessity, of course. She steals from the

richest of the rich, counting on a cover of darkness to keep her hidden, but only to barely scrape

together enough money to meet her growing monthly payments to her aunt. It’s the only way

that she and her younger sister can survive in a world full of fae, self-interested nobles and

royalty. She only takes joy in seeing the mage’s apprentice next door: the handsome, kind

Sebastian. But when her aunt gets tired of waiting for their debt to be paid, she sells Brie’s sister

to the dark fae court. Brie is free - but at what cost? Against Sebastian’s wishes, she hurls

herself into a world of dark and light, of princes and brides, and of a magic she didn’t know she

possessed in order to find and free the only family she has left

The plot in this book is intriguing, the worldbuilding fun and full of escapism, and the

romance and rivalry easy to get invested in. While the prose isn’t the most beautiful and the

character’s don’t have the most depth, it’s a fun read that doesn’t take much time. It felt similar

to ACOTAR but without a lot of the elements that made me stop reading ACOTAR. Overall, I

would recommend it for anyone who likes a good YA/fantasy/romance, and I would rate it four

stars.
