The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a thrilling dystopian novel about a sixteen-year-old girl named Katniss Everdeen and her journey to survive the Hunger Games. Katniss lives in the broken, North American country of Panem, which comprises twelve districts and one Capitol. Each district produces a different good, such as coal or fish. These goods are later sent to the Capitol for them to have, and the districts are left with barely any food or money for themselves. To keep the districts in line, the Capitol hosts the Hunger Games. During the Hunger Games, one boy and one girl from each district aged 12-18 would be drafted to compete in the games. The kids later train to kill the other kids in the arena, and the last kid alive is crowned the victor of the games.
I loved this book because of the constant thrill of reading. I couldn’t put it down or stop turning the pages. The story flowed so nicely, and I couldn’t get enough. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
