For Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the fourth book of the Harry Potter series, Harry is unexpectedly selected to participate in the legendary Triwizard Tournament, a magical competition meant for only the most talented wizards. With three dangerous tasks laid ahead of him, Harry will have to take heavy losses, face massive, fire breathing dragons, and navigate a treacherous maze. His journey will take an unexpected turn for the worse when Voldemort’s return becomes inevitable. Harry will soon learn that bravery comes at a devastating cost.
This book differs from the rest of the Harry Potter series. The introduction of the Triwizard Tournament was a fun and exciting way to show what is really possible in the magical world. The high stakes make the story more emotionally impactful and Harry’s growth as a character is as apparent as ever as we are able to see how his piling responsibilities change his perspectives. I really liked this standout novel and deserves a 5 out of 5. Additionally, I would highly recommend reading the proceeding books in this series, as it is where the plot develops the most.
