Split between Noah and Jude’s perspective, the book follows Noah when the twins are just tweens and Jude when the twins are 16. Going between the two perspectives we see the complicated relationship and what comes between the pair over time. Diving into sibling relationships and the difficulty of growing up I’ll Give You the Sun helps a reader understanding sibling relationships.
I gave I’ll Give You the Sun five stars because I truly connected with it. It made me laugh, cry, and evaluate my own life. I have a sister and this book made a lot of things become clear. I think the way Nelson shows sibling relationships is very accurate and touches deep into my heart. The way that Nelson switches between the tween years with Noah and teen years with Jude is perfect. It makes you on the edge of your seat as you try and fill in the gaps. Nelson waiting to reveal information and when she chooses to is so strategic it is a perfect combination.
