When love exposes dark secrets, it becomes ugly. That’s precisely what happens to Tate when she moves to San Fransisco and meets a seemingly apathetic and emotionless pilot, Miles. What starts as a relationship with a rule to keep this relationship superficial and unserious turns into a complicated mess when both actually fall in love.
Before you plan to read this novel, beware that this book contains mature and explicit content. Quite honestly, there are a lot of deep and intimate moments in the novel, and the others are just… awkward. Despite this being a romance novel, I do wish Colleen Hoover added some sort of plot twist because the ending, I thought, was predictable and unsatisfying. Keep in mind that this is coming from a reader who loves murder mysteries and thrilling novels; perhaps, if the protagonist Ugly Love had been involved in something criminally scandalous, it would have been far more exciting for me. However, this read is a decent one to read for relaxing days as there’s nothing “jaw-dropping.” Although I wish there was a trill factor to this novel, I did enjoy the overall message; I rate this a 2.5/5.
