The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is a mystery book filled with twists and suspense. Cassie just knows people. Ever since she was young, she could make scarily accurate assumptions about people. One day while she was working, a young man walked in and she couldn’t figure him out no matter how long she stared. When he left, he left a business card from the FBI. She didn’t know it at the time, but that one call would throw her whole life upside down. Cassie, now in a house full of people with similar gifts as her, must deduce who among them is not as innocent as they seem.
Overall, I would rate this book a 4/4.5 stars. I liked the concept and how it tied small details from the beginning into the twist at the end. The way the book was formatted was unique, with “you” pages that were from the point of view of the killer. The only complaint I had was that the twist was too unexpected and had no basis or “hints” of it throughout the book. A huge twist just for the shock factor isn’t as satisfying as a twist that’s been planted within the book. I would honestly recommend this book to everyone (except really young children) as it was really fun and well written.
