This book tells the story of Marie Curie, a smart and brave scientist born in Poland who later worked in France. She discovered two new elements called radium and polonium. Also, she was the first person ever to win two Nobel Prizes, one for physics and one for chemistry. The book talks about her life from when she was young to when she made big science discoveries. It also has quotes, pictures and fun activities to help kids understand their work and why it’s important.

Who Was Napoleon? tells the story of exciting life of an important person in history. He was born on the island of Corsica and started out with very little, but he worked hard and became the Emperor of France. The book talks about his childhood, the battles he won as a great army leader, and the rules he created to help people live better lives. It also explains how things didn’t always go well for him and how he eventually lost power and was sent far away.

Run, don’t walk, to pick up a copy of Adam Gidwitz’s unbelievably great book, The Inquisitor’s Tale! A blend of medieval history, myth, commentary, fantasy, comedy, and drama (and probably a bunch of other genres too), The Inquisitor’s Tale, or The Three Magical Children and Their Holy Dog, is so different from most books in the library.
