The Wicked King by Holly Black is fantasy fiction and the second book in the series. After learning that Oak is the heir to Faerie, Jude must keep him safe. For this reason, she has bound Cardan to herself and made herself the power behind the throne. Jude wants to control the constant changing political alliances but Cardan does everything in his power to humiliate and distract her. Jude soon learns that someone close will betray her and endanger her loved ones. She must unmask the traitor and figure out the complicated chemistry between Cardan and herself. And she must remain the mortal ruler of Faerie. All before it’s too late. This book was incredible. I loved the unexpected plot twists and the bonds between characters. We got to see a lot the truth between certain characters, good and bad. I especially loved the chemistry and constant banter between Jude and Cardan. Holly Black did an incredible job again with the everlasting adventure and I would give this book a 5/5.
