The Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger, Realistic Fiction

Holden Caulfield is a young independent boy navigating the world. He takes us along as he goes

through hardships like getting kicked out of prep school. He has an interesting complex so it is

assumed that he is in some kind of mental hospital but he never quite says where he is. Through

his journey, you realize he's just trying to protect his younger self and innocence. Does he stay

innocent though?

This is a book that really clicked towards the end when I got the meaning. It is definitely a good

read if you understand it but however, but I could see how some don’t like it. That being said I

would recommend this book to someone who is older maybe an adolescent or an adult.

I’d give this a rating of 3.
