Summary: Waxillium has spent the past five years patrolling the roughs, patrolling the

streets as a deputy and being a hero to all who live there. However, after the tragic death of his

lover, Lessie, and of his rich uncle, Wax finds himself back in the city. There, he mourns his

losses and takes over his uncle’s estate, assuming that his life of crime-fighting has ended. To

his surprise though, it may have only just begun.

Somebody: Wax, Wayne, Marasi

Wants: Wax wants to keep his dying estate afloat and out of bankruptcy

But: Wax’s attention is stolen by a mysterious group of bandits called the Vanishers, who

kidnap his future wife

So: Wax, along with Wayne and Marasi, track down these bandits. They are led by

Miles, an old deputy Wax used to work with. After a long battle, Wax is finally able to take down

Miles, and the day is saved.

Then: Wax becomes a deputy for the city, and marries rich, getting rid of all his debt

problems. Miles is executed, and everyone lives happily ever after

Opinion: Despite having to follow in Mistborn’s footsteps, Alloy of Law manages to make

itself unique, while still having a solid plot with lovable and interesting characters.

The Alloy of Law is simple, yet arguably perfect for what it is. It is short and decisive, and

keeps the audience on their feet the entire time. The only people I wouldn’t recommend this

story to are those who haven’t read Mistborn, as the magic system is complicated without the in-

depth explanation Mistborn provides.
