Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a wonderful and popular fantasy book written by J.K
Rowling. This book is about a 12 year old boy with a strange lightning scar on his forehead
named Harry. With his two best friends, Ron and Hermione, they embark on their second year at
Hogwarts. This year their is foreboding mystery of the Chamber of Secrets where a monster
lives, as students are randomly being attacked by something and being petrified. Harry and his
friends must solve the case before everyone in the school believes he is the culprit due to his
suspicious proximity with the victims. From flying cars, moving trees, and mysterious diaries,
Harry Potter’s adventures are only getting crazier in this brilliant second book.
In my opinion I love this book. The clues to the mysteries of the Chamber of Secrets are
brilliantly led on by the writer. We have wonderful character competitions in Quidditch matches
to popular new additions like Gilderoy which show that not every teacher is the best. As we
learn more about this horrifying monster, we unravel the mystery of the chamber of secrets more
and more as the clock is ticking before this school is closed because of these attacks. Harry
Potter having to prove his name and creepier situations like the huge spiders really flesh out this
world. Characters like Ron and Hermione prove to us why they are so special while character
like Draco Malfoy are characters we love to hate through his petty rivalry with the main cast.
Unlike the first book however this book has some pacing issues in the middle of the book due to
a lack of answers and not enough hooks to keep the reader’s attention on what is the Chamber
of Secrets.
