Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is a exciting, entertaining book to read with great humor
and amazing action by Rick Riordan. The story is of a demigod, half Greek god and half human.
After being in danger from monsters Percy meets other demigods at camp half blood. However,
Zeus, the god of lighting, is missing his lighting bolt. He thinks Percy stole it. To relieve himself
from getting blamed for the stolen rod, Percy must go across the country with his peers
Annabeth and Grover to find and return Zeus’ weapon.
This book is one of the funniest books I’ve read. Learning about Greek gods and watching Percy
kill Greek monsters on his quest to find the lightning rod was amazing and hilarious to read.
These monsters attacked, tricked, and captured the main trio on their journey in variously
unique way. Creating these stories and borrowing Greek mythology was fun and intriguing as
we learn these monster’s stories all over again. The character’s are strong with each character
have great personalities, motivations, and internal struggles. I loved reading the adventures of
Percy, Annabeth, and Grover and this book is perfect for anyone from elementary school all the
way to high school, with moments that adults will love too.
